1411. ISRO completed almost double missions in 2015-2025 than in 2005-2015: Chairman V Narayanan
- On august 21, 2025, ISRO Chairman V Narayanan said that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched almost double the number of missions between 2015 to 2025 than the ones launched between 2005 to 2015 phenomenal and exponential.
- During the February 2025 to August 2025 three important missions were completed. Axiom 4 mission is a very prestigious mission, successfully accomplished. First Indian to be brought back safely from the international Space Station (ISS),
- Since the launch of rocket in 21 November 1963 from the Thumba area near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, ISRO has launched 133 satellites missions, 102 launch vehicle missions, 5 technology demonstration mission, and 4217 rockets, and carried out 240 total number of missions. Moreover, 433 satellites of 34 countries have been launched in India.

1412. Manipur Guv inaugurates Lamangdong Ima Keithel in Bishnupur, inspects market sheds
- On August 20, 2025, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla inaugurated the newly developed Lamangdong Ima Keithel at Bishnupur district headquarters. He inspected market sheds and interacted with local people, accompanied by MLA Govindas Konthoujam, the Deputy Commissioner, SP, senior officials, and community members.

1413. India successfully test-fires Agni-5 intermediate range ballistic missile
- On August 20, 2025, India successfully test-fired the Agni-V intermediate-range ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, Odisha, under the Strategic Forces Command, validating all technical and operational parameters and advancing India’s defence preparedness.
- Designed by DRDO, the three-stage, solid-fuelled, canister-launched missile can hit targets up to 5,000 km with high accuracy. It strengthens India’s policy of credible minimum deterrence, especially against China, and confirms technological progress through advanced transportable and surface-to-surface strike capability.
- Weighing 50 tonnes, with a 1.5-tonne payload, Agni-V makes India the 8th nation with ICBM capability. First tested in 2012, it is the most advanced of the Agni series, extending beyond Agni-I to IV (700–3,500 km range). The test highlights India’s strategic strength, global defence stature, and long-range deterrence.

India’s total solar capacity reached 119.02 GW through ground-mounted, rooftop, hybrid, and off-grid projects, marking a historic shift in the global renewable energy sector.

1415. Indian textile industry sees export surge: $20.7 billion to US, EU, and UK
- On , 19 August 2025, India’s textile exports to the US, EU, and UK reached $20.7 billion in the financial year ending 31 March 2025, with $10.94B to the US, $7.6B to the EU, and $2.16B to the UK. Key markets remain the US and EU, while a Free Trade Agreement with the UK is already in place.
- Growth is supported by 15 FTAs, the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme with ₹10,683 crore outlay, and technical textile initiatives like the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM). Schemes such as RoSCTL and RoDTEP facilitate duty-free exports and reduce trade barriers, enabling competitiveness in global markets.
- Exports of technical textiles grew 15.53% to ₹24,732.68 crore. Government support includes trade fairs, buyer-seller meets, and Bharat TEX 2025, a global mega event showcasing India’s textile innovations, enhancing the country’s position as a preferred destination for sourcing, investment, and manufacturing in the textile sector.

1416. India’s EV Network Crosses 24,000 Charging Stations – What’s Next For Indian EV Owners?

Fast chargers are now available every 50 km on 91% of national highways, with states like Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, and Goa achieving full highway coverage.
- The expansion aims to support increasing EV usage and improve driver confidence in range and accessibility. EV owners now average 1,600 km per month, 40% more than ICE vehicle users, and 77% of Tata EVs undertake trips involving public charging.
- Despite growth, reliability issues remain, with 12,000 chargers out of service by early 2024 and fragmented payment apps creating usability challenges. Real progress depends on trust and consistent usability, not just increasing charger numbers, as EV adoption rises to 84% reliance among owners.
1417. Servotech secures 7.3 MW solar rooftop project from North Western Railway
- On , 20 August 2025, Servotech Renewable Power System received an order from the North Western Railway’s Jaipur Division for a 7.3 MW on-grid rooftop solar project worth ₹28.84 crore, covering multiple sites across the division.
- The project aims to reduce dependence on conventional energy and cut emissions by integrating renewable energy. Servotech will design, manufacture, supply, install, test, and commission the solar PV systems, supporting Indian Railways’ sustainability goals.
- The contract strengthens Servotech’s public sector presence and expands its solar project portfolio, contributing to India’s transition to cleaner energy sources while enhancing operational efficiency and environmental responsibility in railway operations.
1418. India's longest railway viaduct commissioned in Katni
- On 20 August, 2025 It was reported that, Indian Railways commissioned the Katni Grade Separator in Katni, Madhya Pradesh, recently, completing India’s longest railway viaduct at a cost of ₹1,800 crore, following successful safety inspections.
- The project aims to improve rail connectivity, passenger convenience, and freight efficiency. Construction employed high-quality materials, modern technology, and advanced machinery, with rigorous technical inspections and a 120 km/h speed trial ensuring safety and operational readiness.
- The viaduct spans 33.40 km (15.85 km up-grade commissioned, 17.52 km down-grade under construction), connecting Bina to New Katni Junction, enhancing direct rail routes, reducing travel time, and supporting seamless movement of passengers and goods across the region.
1419. Steady progress in ties guided by respect, says PM on meeting China's Wang Yi
- Prime Minister of India on August,19, 2025 met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at his residence in New Delhi, following a series of high-level engagements aimed at stabilising and strengthening ties between India and China.
- During the meeting, PM emphasised the steady progress in bilateral relations and accepted Chinese President Xi Jinping’s invitation to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit later this month. “Glad to meet Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Since my meeting with President Xi in Kazan last year, India-China relations have made steady progress guided by respect for each other’s interests and sensitivities,” the Prime Minister said.
- For his part, Wang Yi said both sides should “increase mutual trust through strategic communication, expand common interests through exchanges and cooperation, and properly resolve specific issues.” He underlined that “now, the bilateral relationship is facing an important opportunity for improvement and growth,” adding that China attaches great importance to PM Modi’s visit.

1420. Assam Rifles, IIIT Manipur Ink MoU On Drone Technology Partnership
- On 19 August, 2025 It was reported that, At Mantripukhri, Assam Rifles and IIIT Manipur signed an MoU to collaborate in drone technology. The ceremony was attended by Maj Gen Ravroop Singh, IG Assam Rifles (South), and the Director of IIIT Manipur. An Advanced Drone Training and Refresher Course was also launched during the event.
- The partnership aims to strengthen defence–academia collaboration in advancing emerging drone technologies for national security. The training course, aligned with DGCA standards, focuses on drone operations, maintenance, and certification, with applications in surveillance, reconnaissance, and logistics.
- Around 80 participants, including defence personnel and IIIT faculty, took part. Both sides emphasised that drones are vital to modern warfare and joint initiatives will drive innovation, skill enhancement, and self-reliance in security technology.
